Teaching
I am an Assistant Professor at the Bhopal campus of Azim Premji University, a role I began in December 2023. My focus is on teaching Undergraduate courses, with my subjects being Quantitative Biology and Conservation Biology. I find great fulfillment in teaching and am dedicated to contributing to my students’ academic journey.
This course is the first course in the Biological Conservation Occupational Track (OT). This OT is designed to introduce the students to conservation issues in India and equip them with the necessary scientific underpinnings in conservation biology and restoration.
Units
- What biodiversity is
- Components of biodiversity
- Biodiversity loss and conservation
- Present and future of biodiversity conservation
The ability to use quantitative information to understand the world around us is essential for biology. Many students take up biology without adequate mathematical and analytical skills, which can hamper their ability to fully understand biological phenomena. This level 1 course aims to equip students with basic quantitative analytical approaches and help develop quantitative thinking.
Units
- Introduction to R
- Probability and probability distributions
- Applications and practice in R
This course aims to build the foundations of mathematics that the students may have missed in school (or couldn’t learn well enough). The focus is more on topics that will help the students in common curriculum courses and the occupational tracks.
Units
- Numerical reasoning
- Geometric and spatial thinking
- Algebra and coordinate geometry
- Statistical and data skills
This is one of the three courses in the Understanding India group of common curriculum courses. It aims to impart the sensibilities, quantitative skills, and contextual knowledge required for engaging with public data pertaining to contemporary India.

Introduction to the vision of development in India
Employment, poverty, and inequality
Health and nutrition
